So Many Nautical Events In New England This Weekend, So Little Time

Multiple boat and fishing shows, all in New England, all in one weekend…

New England Boat Shows in March 2012

Which one you choose to attend may depend on where you live, or possibly on how you define yourself. Is your boat simply a means to fish? Or do you enjoy boating for the sake of boating?

No matter how you answered the above question, you are in luck – there is an event for you somewhere in New England this weekend. We’ve listed a few of them below, but you can find more – including links to the official event websites – on our new Northeast Boater Events Calendar.

12th Annual Vermont State Boat & Marine Show – Essex Junction, Vermont
This show runs Friday through Sunday at the Champlain Valley Expo, and includes fishing boats, deck, pontoon and ski boats; performance, cruisers, boat lifts & docks.

36th Annual Augusta Boat Show – Augusta, Maine
This event at the Augusta Civic Center also runs Friday through Sunday, but you can buy a ‘double ticket’ that also gets you into the the Maine Log Home & Timber Frame Show which is happening at the August Armory. The boat show site says that boat dealers will be offering affordable and starter boats, motors, and trailer packages, and that there will be free boating safety seminars by the USCG Auxiliary.

New England Saltwater Fishing Show – Providence, Rhode Island
This is the largest saltwater fishing show in the Northeast, according to the show’s website, and it is a great show if you fish in New England. The event, which is Friday through Sunday at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, is run by the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association – a nonprofit organization representing over 6,500 recreational anglers and 29 affiliated clubs.

International Boston Seafood Show
This event at the BCEC (same Boston location as last month’s New England Boat Show) starts Sunday (March 11) and runs through Tuesday – it has the weekday schedule and is a little pricier than your typical event because it is an industry show rather than a consumer show. We thought it might be of interest for our readers in the commercial fishing industry. Within the Seafood Show is the 6th annual Oyster-Shucking Competition, which will take place on Monday, March 12 at 3:30 p.m.

More details on these and other upcoming nautical events in New England and New York can be found on our new Northeast Boater Events Calendar.
