Newport Boat Show Photos

newport-boat-showOn Friday, I decided to make the trek to Newport for the first big fall in-water boat show of 2013, mostly to see if anything new jumped out at me, meet some clients and vendors, and to take some photos to share with you.

It’s a boat – with wheels.

I was also excited to connect with the folks from Sealegs whose US operations are based in Hingham, as I wanted to check out the latest model of their amphibious boats in person. What an awesome vehicle. I got the chance to ride it in the water… and right out of the water and onto the beach. Talk about a head-turner – this boat really drew a crowd, and that is a challenge among all the million dollar yachts at the show. I’ll be writing more about Sealegs and my ride over the next few days, but if you want to see one in person they’ll be at the Norwalk Boat Show next week – you should try to attend just to see Sealegs if nothing else. (Note: Sealegs was not actually exhibiting in Newport this weekend, but they will meet potential customers, and apparently bloggers, at the show or at a beach near you.)

For now, here are some of the photos from Newport that I took Friday after the rain took a break. Images include random shots of boats on the docks, as well as a few of the many booths in the tents, and some pics from the water of both the show and the harbor. I also got a few pics of Sealegs in action, and will have more soon. Enjoy…
