From Newport to Norwalk

Norwalk Boat Show

It’s that time of year again!

After an always interesting Newport Boat Show this past weekend, we are excited to check out the largest in-water boat show in our home state of Connecticut beginning this Thursday. The annual Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show starts this week at Norwalk Cove Marina, and runs through Sunday the 21st. The show hours are 10 am to 6 pm each day.

If you are looking for reasons to check out another boat show this weekend, even if you just attended Newport, there are plenty.

First, while there is some overlap in vendors who attend several boat shows up and down the east coast, you will also see many unique products and services from LOCAL Connecticut companies that only exhibit at the Norwalk and other CT boat shows. This is especially key if you’re looking for local services or providers that can take care of your boating needs close to home.

Norwalk Boat ShowSecond, unlike the Newport show, the Norwalk show is produced by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) – the nation’s leading trade association representing boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers. These guys put on a heck of a boat show. Actually, they put on dozens of boat shows, including some really big ones in cities that include Chicago, New York and Miami.

Third, and we might lose a few people here, Norwalk is usually focused more on powerboats than sailboats. Sure, there will likely be a few sailboats and related accessories on display, but if you are a powerboater, this show will be all about you.

Of course, if you’re like us and just love boat shows, and enjoy looking at the latest sail and power boats, there’s no reason not to check out every event you can get to. And this coming weekend, Norwalk should be at the top of your to-do list.
