Football and a Boat Show

What a great weekend to live in the northeast. We’ve got the Super Bowl in New Jersey, (yes, New York, the game is actually in another state), and we’ve got one of the first boat shows of the year in Providence. For those folks who want to see both, the Providence Boat Show ends at 4 on Sunday, giving you plenty of time to get in front of a TV by kickoff time.

Providence Boat ShowThis year, the Providence Boat Show is being run by Rhode Island’s marine trade association, the RIMTA.  They seem to have done great job incorporating the football theme into the show, including a kick-off party on Friday evening at the end of the first day of the show. For a Friday afternoon, the boat show has quite a good crowd – every booth is full, and there are many more boats on display than last year according to a couple of repeat vendors I’ve talked to.

If you can’t make it to the boat show, Marine Motion is filming it and showing scenes from the show live at http://pbstv.marinemotion.com, but with the weather we’re having this weekend there’s no excuse to get out of the house and see the show in person. It’s at the RI Convention Center in downtown Providence.

Show hours this weekend are:

January 31 10:00 am – 7:00 pm

February 1 9:00 am – 7:00 pm

February 2 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
