Charlestown BreachwayLast Friday, February 3rd, dredging began. It is expected that 69,000 cubic yards will be dredged from the breachway basin area.

The map to the left  shows the area of the breachway that will be dredged. At the lower right area is the breachway parking lot. Initially, the amount of sand to be removed from the breachway was less than half of the 69,000 cubic yards. However, Tropical Storm Irene resulted in the breachway being filled with much more sand.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of March 2012.
