Busted While Boating

The Hartford Courant reported that a man was convicted of second-degree reckless endangerment this week for a boating accident last May on Coventry Lake, just a few miles away from the University of Connecticut. While the man was found guilty, he will not server any jail time for the incident in which his 23-foot powerboat swamped and capsized a canoe, dumping two men into the water.

What are your thoughts on this? It sounds like the guy in the powerboat was a jerk, but is this something you should be arrested for, and possibly serve jail time? Or is this a good way to send a signal to boaters who should be more conscientious of everyone on the water in the interest of boating safety?
