Boat In CT And Catch A Break

Boats in Norwalk

Norwalk is a hot spot for boaters from CT and New York.

The Connecticut Marine Trades Association just sent us an email to let us know that a CMTA bill recently signed by Governor Malloy has eliminated sales and use taxes on vessels that are docked in Connecticut for 60 or fewer days in a calendar year.

According to the email, this applies to any vessel, however it’s owned and wherever it’s registered.

This is yet another sign that the state of Connecticut is trying to ease the burden on boaters. Just last month, we received another email from the CMTA announcing that the Connecticut luxury tax had been repealed on boats.

Today’s email also pointed out that the winter storage window exemption on use has been extended from October 1st to May 31st to better match a realistic storage season when Use Tax doesn’t apply.

As a Connecticut resident and tax payer, I want to send a big thank you to the CMTA for their hard work in these efforts.
