This weekend’s boat and fishing shows are being overshadowed by a nautically named storm which is in the process of dumping as much as three feet of snow in some parts of the Northeast.
Winter Storm Nemo is expected bring heavy snow all day Friday and through part of Saturday in most of New York and New England. For the shows in Massachusetts, it looks like Friday night will be a bust as Gov. Patrick has just announced a state-wide travel band beginning at 4 pm. If you decide to venture out for any reason this weekend, please be extremely cautious. There are plenty of more shows in the area next weekend.
The latest on this weekend’s events after the ominous weather image from the NOAA…
In Worcester, this weekend’s New England Fishing & Outdoor Expo at the DCU has already announced new hours on their website. It would probably be a good idea to contact the DCU Center before you attempt to go to the show. Their phone number is (508) 755-6800.
Out on the Cape, the 7th Annual Boatbuilders’ Show website says the show will go on no matter what, but you should probably call the Hyannis Resort & Conference Center first if you are thinking of putting on your snow shoes and trudging over there. The center’s phone is (866) 828-8259.
With slightly less snow expected, no announcements have yet been made about the Long Island Boat Show which is scheduled to start Friday and go through Sunday at the Nassau Coliseum. However, if you wanted to call the Coliseum before you go, their number is (516) 794-9300.
Finally, the AC Boat Show, which started Wednesday at the Atlantic City Convention Center, will likely go on as scheduled as the bulk of the storm affecting parts north of the area.
Whatever you decide to do, please use your best judgement and be careful. We want to see you out on the water in a couple of months!
